"That doesn't mean authoritarianism is a good solution, although authoritarians do "make the trains run on time" and otherwise impose order -- at a cost. The cost is unacceptable to me." It is the business of other countries to decide how they govern themselves. What may be acceptable or unacceptable to me, is not something I want my government implementing by force overseas. I even have problems with cash transfers aimed at "regime change" since I believe we are an extremely ignorant nation, when it comes to the cultures and needs of other countries. What is unacceptable to me is blind ignorant meddling on the part of my government - since it is costly, and often has ends that are completely at odds with expectations.
