China is interesting to watch -- I see good things happening in the short run and in the long run, it's the middle distance that worries me, a little.

Central Asia promises to be interesting, too. On the list of potential countries to be visited by Vice President Cheney, Secretary of State Rice, and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, surely Kazakhstan would not be high on anybody's list, but there it is.
