The energy price spikes also hit the entire nation.
It was a totally phony "shortage" which turned into an energy glut once Jim Jeffords switched parties and suddenly gave Dems subpoena powers to investigate.

But it was especially the Texas rightwing and energy business stealing 30 billion from the "liberal" west coast.

Only about 5% of the money has been recovered.

Texas now has $3.50 gasoline too. And deregulation there (Enron and Bush's baby) have jacked up electrical rates sharply. Texans are not happy.

CJ, You have to realize that California's problems with their energy crisis and Arnold are, for much of the country, considered to be California's problems.

During the recall election of 2003, Gray Davis tried his very best to blame the GOP for California's energy problems. The voting public didn't buy that story, and this was well after the corruption behind the crisis was exposed.

Since I moved here, though, I have not experienced any blackout due to energy shortages. Not only that, but my energy bills are much less than what I remember paying back in upstate New York (though slightly higher than Oregon). It's like, "What energy crisis?"
