If enough people keep throwing enough stuff up against the wall of utter electoral indifference, maybe something will begin to stick. Maybe it will take a really big scare to make 'voters' actually vote. Alternatively, maybe the producers of American Idol can produce the next election and jazz it up enough to make people notice. I heard there's one state considering offering a $1m prize as an incentive for people to vote. We do this kind of thing and yet we expect the Iraqis to take democracy seriously.
