If the dip angle is 70 degrees, the width is cosine(70) of the length.

If the dip angle was 90 degrees, the thing would have no width, right? Cos(90)=0.

Thank You that helps my little mind but as I point out elsewhere this is a 600 metre hole, so more like 200 metre true width.

The formula is illustrative for me. Thanks, provides an picture in my head.
