How in hell can secular liberals get together with a bunch that kills tennis players for wearing shorts? There seems to be a pervasive illusion that there is a kinder, gentler form of Islamism somewhere. Unfortunately, even the most humane form of Islamism going is still under order to impose its rule over non-believers.

Longer answer: the tennis players were not on the tennis court, they were running errands in this case, dropping off laundry, while wearing shorts. So my guess is that the offense wasn't "wearing shorts while playing tennis" but "wearing shorts while in the neighborhood where women can see them." And they'd been warned already. Doesn't make the act any less heinous but it's not totally incomprehensible, either. Showing your naked legs to their women is an offense. Edit: from time to time I've even seen male genitalia peeking out from shorts. Being female, and an admirer of the male form, I do look. Men really should wear jockstraps under short shorts.
