Wrong. I was just in Houston. It was well over $3 a gallon, almost the same price as LA where I live. Plus, Bush now has over a 50% disapproval rating in Texas. And Governor Perry is being accused of corruption and squandering the state's money. The religious right is also in total disarray.

Also, Tom Delay's multi-million dollar ad campaign to rally rightwingers to his side totally failed. He has to resign in disgrace. Though it's true many in Texas have benfitted from Bushie gouging and pork barrel spending, it's also true the rightwing GOP is in big trouble in Bush's home state.

Texans are not stupid people. They may be wrong sometime, but they are generally moral. And when they see the out of control lying, corruption and poor execution of the war and Katrina relief they are alarmed. Also, don't forget Texas has a huge Latino population and they are not happy with the GOP right now trying to blame all their own blunders on "the Mexicans". No way the GOP will ever get 35-40% of the Latino vote again.

Texans are also used to cheap gas and energy, which they are not getting anymore. And they know who's really responsible.
