Yes all you have to worry about is bears. (and maybe tics both the poli kind and the regular ones)

Most snakes are god and some are actually people friendly and are quite affectionate when handled gently but, trust me, I am VERY careful when handling a rattler! Cottonmouths and coral snakes I just shoo away with a stick. I don't trust them enough to handle them. They tend to be ill tempered when they're disturbed.
