Your claim is unproven, but I suspect that Sadr or his supporters had much to do with Khoi's murder. But that did not lead to a major blow with him. It was the newspaper that branded him as a disruptive influence and sent the marines after him.

Sun practically had an image of him dancing through a park with flowers in his hair, beloved by all who support national unity...

He seems to have backed off of that stuff for now. Don't expect it to last.
