Yep, the smearvets was largely the fault of the press for falling for the hoax and covering it. When it was just as 100% phony as a $3 bill. That gave the smearvets some degree of credibility plus tens of millions in free TV time. And since they all lied with a straight face and no conscience, many people were fooled because they did not know Kerry very well and figrued "maybe some of its true, who knows?" Meanwhile Bush-cheney were draftodgers and Bush went AWOl from the Guard, had his records destroyed then lied about it. The press has learned its lesson on this particular issue, which is why Kerry's next run will probably be smearvet-free, but just to make sure we aim to expose, destroy and bury those sick bastards.
