Rather's story was absolutely true. Read the raw evidence at awolbush.com.

You have a nerve denying reality, honey. and a lot of gall defending Rove's dirty tricks. See the film "Bush's Brain" and notice Rove once defeated an opponent by accusing him of planting a listening device in his (Rove's) office. Rove calls in the cops and got the story in the newspaper. The opponent angrily denied it but people wondered.

After the election, law enforcement determined that the listening device had a 6 hour battery, and only two hours of it had been used up. Which meant it was planted right before Rove called them. By Rove himself.

This is very similar to the Rather scam, just using a phony document instead of a listening device. Rove knew Bush's Guard record could lead to GW's drug problems and AWOL status from the Guard being made public, so he pulled a really fast one.

Haditha killings and Cover-up

From an American point of view it is a manifestation of the stress and battle fatigue the troops are under. The type that results from fighting a war where they feel their purpose is listless, where they see no leadership etc.

From and Iraqi point of view, it shows the little regard the US military have for innocent iraqi lives.

>>Dan Rather's story was true. ...It was just the document which was phony

So it was fake but accurate? Gee, where have I heard that one before?

The standard defense of every dirty cop, now appropriated by the "liberal" left.<<

Nadine -

Try to follow this. The gist of the story was true. Here is the gist: Bush did get out of fulfilling his commitment to the Guard (which in turn he got into only because of family connections, to avoid going to Viet Nam) by taking advantage of family connections. There was a coverup to make it more difficult to prove that he had done this.

When interviewed about the phony document, the secretary who had supposedly typed it said that even though the document was not real, it did present an accurate picture of what was happening at the time.

Too hard to grasp? Maybe if I use an example it will become clear. The document is kind of like my first paragraph above. That paragraph was not written back in the early '70s by someone who was directly connected with Bush, yet it still accurately represents what happened.

Because of the outrage over the faked document, the whole point of the story was lost. If Karl Rove did plan it, he couldn't have done a better job. Make the other guys look like the villains. Brilliant.

Who has helped Islamic extremists more than Bush?

Look at the results in Iran, Iraq and Palestine. Forget the rhetoric. Just look at th results. Has Osama Bin Laden been caught five years later? Does Iraq have anything to do with a war on terror?

Re-think your knee-jerk reaction to assume moderates and liberals would not keep our country safer than Bush has.
John Kerry, for instance, knows how to fight and win.

Remember, the proof is in the pudding, not the myths and dishonest TV ads.

Remember, not a single rightwing leader has ever dared to serve in combat. And look who's raking in the money off the war.
