Bush lied about this in his autobiography. He also lied saying he was a fighter pilot. He was never cleared to fly. And he refused the mandatory drug test then split the Guard without notice in 1972, ending up at Harvard still owing the Guard two years of service he never fulfillled. But when you're a Bush you don't have to serve.
