You may not be that way but I have seen a number of people 'addicted' to their faith and it ain't pretty. It's all "relative". Ten thinks "religion" (if it's Christian) is good, period. Pot, extra-marital sex, anything else that people enjoy is bad. Ask him to explain "moral relativism" to you. It might go a long way to understanding the difference in your perspectives.
