.Yeah, sure Doug...AMD better cannibalize its 90nm product offerings

You think AMD's 65nm parts will "cannibalize" their OWN 90nm parts? Not outside a few enthusiasts. With that logic, there could never be smooth process transitions.

AMD better wait until H207 to start any 65nm wafers. Otherwise, they might cannibalize their Chartered 90nm parts!

Re: ...AMD better cannibalize its 90nm product offerings because the INTC hypsters claim 20% performance advantage for those 500,000 Conroes that manage to get to market without glitches.

Um, the 500,000 number would apply to the number of 65-nm CPUs AMD will likely ship this year. Intel should ship well over 10x that many Conroes.

It is impossible for AMD to Osborne their 90-nm parts. Few people will care about the relatively few benefits of a 65-nm Athlon 64 dumb shrink. And of course, no one is going to buy the 65-nm dumb shrink because K8L will only be six months away. AMD Osborned 65-nm rev. G Athlon 64!
