Given how they incrementally refine their transistor characteristics, there is no reason to expect better performance at first from a new process.

Ridiculous. The transistors share *technology* across nodes, but they are not identical.

Now true, you can take the stance that they are trying some CYA to cover up problems

Well, duh. Could it be any more obvious?

Process launch has slipped multiple times, no production wafer starts yet, still no word on power & frequency of samples, first parts planned to be 3 speedgrades BELOW 90nm parts shipping at the same time, multiple rumors of problems.

How much more do you need? You expect Hector to stand up and say, "As it currently stands, our 65nm process is f**ked. But we're trying really hard to fix it."
