<<This is Canada and when I go into the streets of a Canadian city such as Toronto I want to be able to read store headers in english or french not in any other language yet I am forced to accept this change to my culture. When walking the streets of a Canadian city such as Toronto I don't want to to be afraid to mistakenly wander into an area of the city where a culture exists unlike mine and where I am not welcome.>>

City's the world over are diverse, that is the way they are, they will not change because you think it is a slight against your culture.Try wondering in New York.

<<We very nearly had shria muslim law adopted in Ontario and if that had happened I would be required to accept this forced change to my culture.>>

It didn't happen.

<<How about one of the IMO...most blatant assaults on our culture... the forced change to the dress code of the RCMP.>>

So a citizen of our country went to court so he could wear a different hat. When was the last time you saw an RCMP with a turban ..and does it hurt you in any way. There was a young soccer player wearing a turban last year..it only bothered the adults.

<<And what about the forced changes to our education system to accommodate other cultures who refuse to accept our way of life and why should they when our liberal minded governments see fit to use our tax dollars to support multi/separate cultures within our Canadian society....all of this and much more is leading to the complete destruction of our Canadian society as it once was. And I for one don't like it at all.>>

What are the forced changes to our education system??

<<One culture is permitted by law to carry a weapon in schools and again we Canadians are forced to accept these changes to our society.>>

Yes we are forced to accept this change. Why ??because a citizen took it to the supreme court and that is how they ruled.Has there been a problem with this ruling...nothing that i have heard of...so far...but lets be clear...that community is on probation ...forever..any problems and back to court and that law will be changed..forever.

<<If I or you for that matter speak out freely and say the some other culture are terrorists which is mine and your right under freedom of speech we would be arrested and charged with a hate crime even though what we may be saying has nothing to do with hate or racism...it may be the truth.>>

Sweeping generalizations about any culture are never the truth.

<<Do you remember the poor bugger who exercised his right to free speech against radical islam and a Canadian court and judge sentenced him to 9 months probation under the direct supervision of a muslin inam leader in Toronto? That's just sick IMO.

And just recently I watched as did you hundreds of molsums carrying hate signs and calling for death to the infidels in cities through out the world and some Canadian cities...how many of the muslim demonstrators were arrested and charged with hate crimes as a Canadian would be?? Are they more equal than the rest of us or is there some appeasement and fear going on?>>

The police have to make decisions on who to arrest and what to do daily..maybe their version of these events differ from yours.I don't here you putting forth any suggestions on how to make our system better..the rule according to lorne is as good as the rule according to gg or anyone else..it is not good.

<<IMO a real multicultural society would have all peoples living together with a common language not in separate little enclaves within our society and each one being fearful of the other.

There are generations and generations of Canadians of different backgrounds who still cling to their ethnic backgrounds by celebrating their Irish, Italian, french, German etc etc backgrounds every year.....BUT they speak a comon language and have a common culture developed over years and this is Canada. ...Was Canada.>>

Yes, that is your opinion, and you can have one because this is Canada, freedom of speech, rule of law, freedom to assemble and worship...not rule according to lorne.

<<We had a real good thing here what a shame to see it being destroyed by fanatic liberal minds who can not understand that real equality can not come about within a country with so many different cultures fighting for power and control.

Assimilation means being absorbed as use to be the case when new Canadians came to Canada. Now it is us old Canadians that are being absorbed by other cultures...so yes I am being forced to accept other cultures and change to my culture.>>

You are free, not to assimilate, with any other culture...ain't it great...I am keeping a weary eye out for RCMP in funny hats, soccer players with strange head gear, and students with daggers..haven't seen any yet.

Lorne, you beat me to the RCMP head cover point.

In many areas of this country, there are helmet laws applicable to motorcycle drivers/riders and bicycle riders.

In some areas of this country, IMO, Turbans supercede the requirement for a DOT approved helmet. I don’t believe that the Department of Transport has actually approved turbans as a safety device.

Not to worry though…
Canada’s healthcare system will pick up all the expenses for those poor souls suffering head trauma in an accident involving ‘alternative headwear’ on these aforementioned vehicles.

Are you paying enough Taxes yet?

lorne,

I think gg is partially correct on the Sikh dagger issue. They are on probation but to believe one incident would rescind the law, and forever more to boot is a little naive IMO.

I would have liked to hear his response to your "Do you remember the poor bugger..." instead of evading it as he did with baffle gab on your contrasting point...

The other answers he gave you are fine though I think..

Toronto is the largest Chinese city outside of Asia.. so to speak.. There are bound to be a lot of signs...

More interesting to me is how would these young offenders be punished had they been successful... At least we are rolling our own... sigh..
Six of the arrested come from the Missisauga area, four are Toronto residents and two live in Kingston, Ontario. Five youths who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act have also been arrested and charged.
680news.com

and sadly the story's reporter, Jason Satur, cannot even spell Mississauga. Not like a reporter needs to know things like that though :O) Maybe his name is really Jasson LOL...
