No. That is a disingenuous misstatement made by some critics of Keynes. What Keynes was referring to was the notion that money must be commodity based – particularly those commodities that are scarce.

I watched many silly goldbugs here on SI during all that chaos go through the gamut of emotions and sillyness and financial losses.
