Hello Raven,

Thanks for your story! I picked up a few bits and pieces
from the conversation, but did not know the details.
It sounds like you have had quite a few challenges
over the past few years.

Regarding lurkers on boards... it's interesting that many
people do enjoy reading threads or blogs, but so few
actually post.
From what I know from seeing stats, etc...
I think the percentage of people who read but don't post
is quite high.. over 90 percent.
I'm not entirely sure why that is, but I suspect that people
enjoy reading, but often feel shy about participating in
"conversations" when they see a group of people who
see to know each other. It's a bit like sitting alone in
a restaurant, watching all of the people at a table talking,
but not feeling like you can just join in on the conversation.

Also, I think there's a sort of comfort factor in just reading
and enjoying what's happening on a thread or blog.
Some places are just nice to "visit" when you want to
enjoy a certain kind of conversation.

You asked if I just photograph insects.

Nope, I photograph all kinds of natural subjects,
but invertebrates are my specialty and what I have
become known for.

raven (and clappy/itsy)-

thanks for the kind werdz. and thanks for giving clappy something to read. <g>

i loved his report on the camping and the bear action. he should send that to his local newspaper - it was highly interesting and made a great point too.

i'm so busy with work, daily position reports and weather forecasts for the caribbean delivery sailor boyz, sailing club news writing, high school reunion website building and personal emails that i don't have time left to post much (but i still read all the posts here)... i'm still going to the gym three nights a week too and sailing on weekends.

most of these busy things are temporary but they're high priority for now.

i had to choose whether to answer your email query tonight or to post this here. this post won out because more than one person can read it and i've been absent without a leave pass from coach19 for too long.

at least the spanish class is over for the summer (but i can feel everything i learned leaking out of my brain fast). i may have to take spanish I again this fall instead of spanish II.

goggle "spanish keyboards" and read some more about them... i'm sure you'll find one that explains how to use your english keyboard to type the spanish characters better than i can explain it. (after you toggle to ES for español, type the key to the right of the "p" then type the vowel you want. it will look like nothing happened when you hit the first key but when you type the vowel you'll get the accent over it like this: á, é, í, ó, ú )

buenas noches,
