Well, everyone I ever met up from up there, if they were not French, certainly had French relatives in the background. Incidentally, the water pump went out on my jeep up in that Wilderness and had to spend the night in the jeep while ordering a new water pump to be delivered by UPS or FedX (forgot which now) cause nearest town was over 70 miles away. Anyhow, awoke in the morning to BEAR TRACKS around my jeep. Thankfully, the only food we had was in an ice chest and perhaps he didnt smell it and thus didnt rip our jeep apart. Once in the Sierra Nevada mountains some ranger told people to put their food in their vehicle, they did. That night a Grizzly completely demolished the vehicle, first smashing the glass, then crawling in one side (while they ran out the other) and proceeded to rip off the roof etc etc. I NEVER store food in my vehicle in Bear Country, put it on a long rope and tie it up in a tree. Damn if I want the bears in with me. jdn
