i made a few trips from Bangor over to Calais. it was a major logging trail. You could cut quite a bit of driving time off going up into novi. pei by taking this trail across central me. to east coast vs driving up east coast. Usually the only thing you met were a logging truck back then fully loaded driving maybe 50 mph and taking over most of the road. if they ever hit you they wouldn't have know it and i doubt anyone would ever find you if knocked off the road. back then there wasn't a facility on the road.
