As an aside, we should be seeing news on streaming the Stern show and this may again change the valuation metric.

10:23 XMSR XM Satellite: Caris thinks merger between XMSR and SIRI may solve XMSR woes (14.41 -0.28) -Update-

Caris says that as the battle royal between the two major satellite radio players continues, they believe the boards will explore options to preserve cash. Firm believes that one option is the merger of the two cos. This would reduce intra-sector rivalry so satellite radio can compete with the threats from mobile phones, the internet, over-the-air broadcasting and recording devices. A merger may face regulatory hurdles, but with a Republican administration has demonstrated a willingness to support mega-mergers, as is the case with the Bells and long distance. Though Sirius reaffirmed its 2006 forecast of more than 6.2 mln subscribers, investors sold anyway. In firms opinion, SIRI is likely to report cash flow breakeven before XMSR. Firm views the management of SIRI, with a track record in the media business as better suited to run a merged satellite-radio co than the XMSR management.
