Lifeforms on earth are already living computers.

DNA data is digital, not analog. The base-pairs that describe all life on earth are specific sequences. This has important implications about reproduction and error correction.

It also brings up an interesting inverse to the article you supplied. It is likely that in the near future there will be adequate enough simulation of organic chemistry to allow complete lifeforms to live a life within the confines of an electronic computer. There is no theoretical reason this could not continue all the way to human lifeforms.

"It seem anthropomorphism is a 2 edged sword. I'm very surprised to see those who detest it so, use it so openly... ie. the use of the term 'thoughts' for other life formss"

What are you babbling about? What makes you think I detest anthropomorphism? What a bizarre insinuation. Do you think I detest the Wind in the Willows or Lord of the Rings??

As to TP's comment "If single cells are holding enough thoughts to have a feedback loop, then what is the mechanism for storing those thoughts?", he was obviously addressing your suggestion that cells are "aware"--that is to say capable of thought. His comment is pertinent.
