The White House is not only leaderless but it appears to be in a state of collapse. I think Josh Bolton has taken the right step by infusing the White HOuse with some independent thinking folks like Tony Snow, the Treasury Secretary etc. I would wait to see if Cheney and Rumsfeld would allow them the free reign. If they don't allow JOsh Bolton to function freely, then I would expect Bush to side with Josh Bolton, who seems to be the beacon of hope.

I think Josh Bolton needs to be supported fully for now. IMHO

excellent thought

I completely agree and thought that was the best line of the piece. I have some problems with Beinart's argument--US foreign policy since the end of the second world war has more than a few very, very large warts. But it's a strong restatement of the basic consensus of establishment foreign policy--Reps and Dems--during that period.

I may even read the book. ;-)

By the way, what's with the market. My wife and I were out for much of the day and wound up at Prospect Park in Brooklyn for a benefit jazz concert for our son-in-law's jazz program in Park Slope. Wonderful time. But we get back to check the market.

Big, big, ouch!!
