< look how GWB uses gay marrriage and other wedge issues to divide our country. And especially right now when the whole world seems on the verge of explosion. >

Poppycock. There are plenty of others involved in this whole mess before he came along. He's just a bit player, and had nothing to do with bringing the issue to the forefront.

<Gay marriage has nothing to do with heterosexual marriage. What kind of nonsense thinking is that?>

Marriage has nothing to do with marriage? That IS nonsense.

You know I don't give a rats ass about this issue... but to not see why this is an issue is really quite out of touch. I personally think multiple spouses, sex outside of marriages, on demand divorce with no penalties are all fine...as is just living together and having kids... but society disagrees and I'm OK with that. I dont' go pushing my alternative views on people or my kids by NOT being married and having my kids explain that mom and dad are blah blah blah..... Not that I think that would be wrong... it's OK, just a choice. BTW, in a lot of groups it's looked on as very uncool to be married instead of having "a partner"... and I'm not talking gay groups.

Why Gay's don't try to pass "Gay Union" laws, or "Alternative Union" laws is beyond me. The only thing I can think of is they want to be able to say "I'm Married"... well you know what? Maybe they CAN'T!

Anyway, maybe I just don't get it... and I have Gay friends as well... my business partner in my last business was Gay. He didn't seem to give a crap about all that. Who knows.

It's also ironic that the last 30 years have shown that supposedly "fiscally-conservative" neo-liberals have consistently proved to be greatly inferior at handling government finances than the supposedly profligate centrists who get labelled as liberals these days.

This has proven itself repeatedly across multiple instances at both state/provincial and national levels.
