John just how sick can we be in this Nation to cater to the whims of one part or our society that believes in the Bible to the point of absurdity.. The failure to recognize that if they truly were Christians they would open their hearts to people who by no fault of their own are gay.. Who want the same rights afforded heterosexual couples with regard to medical benefits,social security and other financial rights enjoyed by the majority. Only obtainable by MARRIAGE... To think of changing the Constitution of the United States to thwart the efforts of this group to be recognized in a positive way and finding it threatening..is not only demoralizing to me I find it absolutely disgusting. Let the States do it if it has to be done, but the CONSTITUTION ? As Senator Leahy admonished.. it will be the first time that this nation has used a constitutional amendment to incorporate discrimination against a group of other Americans.
