I posted the form where Kerry volunteered specifically for Vietnam. Only a total fool would not see that if you volunteer for Vietnam (or Iraq now) you're also volunteering for combat, or at the very least being in harm's way every single day you are there even you are at a desk job. Kerry did not volunteer for a desk job, he volunteered to command a swiftboat, which even if patrolling the coast would at least occasionally be under enemy fire, and would return firm.

Did Kerry volunteer for non-stop combat like the type he was re-assigned into? No, I never said that. But became gung-ho once there (with moral misgivings about the war) and he did volunteer for Vietnam, which means at least possible combat. So it proves he was unafraid.

Bush on the other hand, specifically checked the box "no, I won't go to Vietnam" and you can see the form on AWOLBUSH.com.
