Yes, that is exactly what I meant. So we agree.

Also, the Globe story says Kerry "half-volunteered" for the heavy action on the Mekong.

"Half" is important as this hero served courageously despite having serious misgivings about the war the more he witnessed.

I'll bet the majority of soldiers in Iraq now feel the same way. They may be courageous but they have serious misgivings too. FUBAR wars are no fun. And you wonder whether, if you or your mates die, it will do the world any good at all. Hopefully so, but not once you're in a quagmire.
