And the Ad money could have been better spent on 2 or 3 full time US employees that understand English, and can answer the phone without having to send the customer thru a 15 minute phone tree maze to get to the first live person.

Running ads doesn't correct the service problems at Dell. No matter how much "no excuses" bs they put it them.

If you don't have service, you're just another box maker fighting on the lowest price. If you have service, you make your customer happy and willing to pay a bit more.

Its called building Goodwill. And it can't be done from garbled Indian gibberish English and phone tree maze induced caller hangup.

Nothing to differentiate Dell from HP or GTW or whatever crap company makes the box.

Hi Gary, saw the ad. I cracked up about the 'great service company'. The other day I was channel surfing and noticed that a guy/gal were shilling Dell laptops and desktops on QVC. I watched for a couple of minutes as they 'explained' all the 'great' features. What really made me chuckle though was when in the middle of their shtick they took a 'call' from a guy who bought a Dell PC and he just 'waxed poetic' about how great the service from Dell is. Does QVC have ringer callers they pay for this?

Regards,

PS - I just received a Thinkpad X60 via UPS for my wife. Amazing 3 pound machine, great keyboard (just about full size), excellent screen, and with the larger battery we ordered, she got over 8 hours on the first charge. One of the PC rags I just read said they got over 9 hours on it, and you can also attach a second 'slice' battery to it's base for 10-11 hours of computing. I think it's the best ultraportable out there.
