I think the latter is whats happeneing now because both sides realize that the real threat is al quaeda and its world wide reach(ontario).

Disagree, michael, as I think AQ is on the ropes, not that there are lots of imitators and fellow travelers, like the UK and Spain bombers, who are not formally associated with AQ despite doing many of the same things.

If this assessement is correct, there are no grand strategy implications to a US/Iran deal for nuclear tech. Not that such a deal is ever going to occur in the first place.

A decent PR stunt, one I haven't seen since Bush's Thanksgiving trip to Iraq a couple of years ago.
