They want to clear old inventory and hold unit share. Price cuts seem like the right way to accomplish that, no?

Inventory clearance is BS, IMO, because Intel is adding identical chips to the inventory they are supposedly clearing out from inventory. Intel just desperately wants the bleeding of market share loss to stop. At any cost. It is psychological, for Intel, not financial.

The potential to hurt AMD earnings in the process is just a pleasant side effect, from Intel's point of view.
