I have drafted many cohabitation agreement. There is nothing that homsexuals can't have by contract and a civil union if such a statute was to exist except benefits from the Federal Government or State Government for SS and other such matters. Even health insurance is usually given to your partner. So this marriage issue is a canard. They don't need to revise the constituion. The Federal Government can decide who to give its benefits to and this would pass the equal protection clause IMO. And the full faith and credit clause would not apply to fundamental principles like this so the states could decide what to do.
