I disagree with the author. I would say that Dumbya is actually trying it out now. He wants to see how much he can differ on the immigration issue with his base and yet not see an erosion in their support. Even if Dumbya were to stand at the Mexican border and shake hands with every illegal immigrant as they entered the US, his base wouldn't desert him. And he knows it. I mean, his brain (Rove) knows it.
