Global warming skeptics can’t challenge Al Gore on the substance, so they just smear him personally.

SOP. They'll come around to being believers as soon as they figure out how they'll make money on global warming. And then the GOP will re-write history to claim they were leading the way to combat global warming and always were.

You have it backward - it is the global warming side which relies on smearing.
