The women and children Bush killed were hardly terrorists.

>>The women and children he killed were hardly disidents.<<

Tonto -

So what would you say motivated Saddam to kill them? Pure malice? Insanity?

No. Killing the women and children who were related to the dissidents was a part of Saddam's method for maintaining control. Obviously.

In today's Iraq women and children are still being killed, but now it's dismissed as "collateral damage". I'm sure the people whose mothers, brothers, sisters, daughters, and sons are killed don't really care about our reasons for coming into or staying in Iraq. They're just angry with us for killing their loved ones.

That's part of the problem with trying to deal with terrorism and insurgency militarily. The collateral damage tends to alienate the people we are trying to help, and many of them then become insurgents and terrorists.
