AMD Advanced Micro: checks in supply chain indicate increasing possibility that Dell could be launching AMD based desktop PCs by early 4Q06 -Credit Suisse (28.95 ) -Update-

Credit Suisse says their Asian team' checks in the supply chain indicate an increasing possibility that Dell (DELL) could be launching AMD based desktop PCs by early 4Q06, ahead of their expectations of a mid-2007 ramp. With DELL scheduled to launch AMD based servers by the end of the year and AMD planning to increase capacity by 4X over the next 3 years, the firm would not be surprised by a faster move by DELL to AMD processors for the desktop. Assuming AMD gains about 20% share of Dell desktop in 2007, they est that this could add $500 mln in incremental rev for AMD in 2007, and at least $0.14 in EPS to firms $1.79 est. They believe the potential win at DELL will boost AMD mindshare with customers and represent a milestone as AMD penetrates the corporate PC segment. They est the potential AMD win at DELL would cost Intel (INTC) $600 mln in revs and at least ~$0.05 in EPS. With most of the potential share gains in DELL PCs likely to be a 2007/08 event, they would look to build new positions on any further share weakness in 2H06.
