a military coup is in progress ... it is being led by the Retired Generals That would not be an unprecidented event. In 1800 President Adams, citing the national security emergency of the Barbary Pirates, decided not to relinquish the Presidency to Th. Jefferson. Retired officers, led by George Washington and calling themselves the Order of Cincinattus informed Adams that this action would result in a military coup, and Washington had the backing of the army to do so. Adams blinked, Jefferson took office, and the republic survived another 200 years. TP
