Re: I certainly wouldn't give Anandtech credit for writing a clear review, it actually kind of sucks. It sure would have been nice if the Woodcrest was compared with a newer Opteron server, instead of the 2.2/2.4 models. Also, Anandtech should stop putting those stupid model numbers in the results and simply give us the Ghz, so we can more easily interpret the results.

I blame AMD and Intel for the model numbers. Anandtech did a reasonable job comparing performance with the equipment they had. At least they extrapolated some of the Opteron numbers up to 3GHz to show the performance difference rather than just reporting the results from the low clocked Opterons and leaving it up to the reader to guestimate how an equally clocked Opteron would perform.
