As for Israel, I'm convinced that they must accomodate Islamic claims, via some shared or international status, for the holy sites, and they should largely withdraw from east Jerusalem. But Isaeal must also be assured of safety and peace. We should work for this quietly, and with all parties, including Hamas.

Why should we work for peace for a nation that gives citizenship based on religion rather than birth location? A Jew in Argentina can get paid to immigrate to and live part time in Israel, but a non-Jewish baby born in territory occupied by Israel cannot. That's unamerican (you know, all men created equal).
