The smearvets insulted our war hero leaders. Bob Dole did a shameful thing not denouncing the smearvets in 2004 as McCain did. He had his chance but betrayed his fellow vets by failing to do so. Instead, Dole lied and said "maybe there's something to it". He knew damn well it was nothing but a hoax and smear campaign run by Rove. Dole also should have winced in shame when the smearvets lied about one of Kerry's Purple Hearts, saying it was just a small sliver wound requiring a Bandaid. Dole also received a Purple Heart for a minor wound like that. But as every combat vet knows, sliver wounds can be deadly and also soldiers don't give themselves Purple Hearts, the military does.
