Although far from certain, it is not entirely impossible that Bernanke will do just enough to keep the ball rolling -- and if he does he might well forestall the "calling of the loan". Of course it will in time get called. But to keep the ball rolling he is likely to be willing to see steady erosion of the dollar and inflation. The alternative is a thumping move down for the dollar if he stalls the economy and much higher inflation as a result. That is why I think he will talk tough a carry a little-itty-bitty stick. On the other hand, if he can get help from the BOJ and BOC he might be in a position to keep the ball rolling a little longer by capping the short-term prospects of commodity speculation.
