I wouldn't be happy that any soldiers were killed unnecessarily, BUT if they were trying to rescue men and women who were wounded, and nearly dead....I would think they were extraordinarily brave.

I couldn't agree more. I've been very specific that I am talking about the retrieval of the dead, not the living. Risking a life to rescue the living is very different from risking a life to retrieve the dead. Very different.
