I think it is fine to criticize the 9/11 widows if they put themselves out as spokespersons for any cause, even diabetes.

Where I think Ann Coulter has made a great mistake is her choice of words and her assumptions that she "knows" what these women are like. To call them "harpies" and "witches" and to wonder philosophically if their husbands were planning to divorce them may get her more screen time, but it will backfire against the Republicans later if they don't distance themselves from it. The dems will pound on these choice of words, in context and out of context, every chance they get.

Ms. Coulter likes to be sensational, but her method of raising awareness of her sensationalism will hurt the Repubs IMHO.

An example on one of the talkfests yesterday. Demo talking head asked Repub talking head who was trying to defend Coulter if he felt the woman who started Mothers Against Drunk Drivers was a harpy or witch. Repub responds: "I don't know that lady, so I can't judge her". Dem responds: "Does Ann Coulter know, personally, any of the women she describes in her book". Repub guy stutters...."I don't know." Er...er... Bad moment for Repub.

I think Ms. Coulter's method of criticizing is going to haunt her and the Repubs in the months ahead. JMHO...Just too sour. But it will sell books.

And I did read the chapters in the book in which she made the comments. Have not read the whole book yet.
