LIES! Bushies smeared Max Cleland just like they did Kerry and McCain. In 2002, Bush timed his march to war to coincide with the mid-term and used the "if you're against me you're a coward, traitor and don't care about national security" mantra over and over again against not just cleland, but all democrats and GOP moderates. Of course, Bush-cheney also started serial lying about Saddam's supposed WMD and Al Qaida links. None of it was true. Cleland was then hit with a multi-million dollar barrage of ads and other smear methods picturing him with OBL and Saddam as if he were their buddy. Bush smear dogs like Coulter and Hannity then went to work on Cleland, lying to claim his three limbs were not blown off combat, but he'd blown them off himself in a stupid klutzy accident on the base. A total lie but the same time lie ther smearvets and Michelle Malkin told about Kerry, even lying openly on national TV that Kerry had blown himself up to get out of combat. Bush is ultimately responsible for all these smear campaigns waged under his name. Karl Rove is the boss of the political smears and Rove is Bush's righthand man reporting only to Bush.

Look at the hateful lies the rightwing Bushies were telling about Max Cleland. freerepublic.com And all this trash comes from the RNC and Karl Rove. These bastards don't get any of the smear/talking points without Rove knowing about it. Notice that an honest poster had to step in and remind the lying bastards that Cleland did not blow himself up, and won his Silver Star the hard way before his tragic accident. Cleland (like Kerry and McCain) was a hero no matter what way you look at it, but according to Bushies, cleland was a traitor, coward, phony, no hero and was helping the enemy (Saddam, OBL and then Kerry in 2004 who these buttholes call "The Union" as if we're still in the middle of the Civil War and they're the racist confederacy trying to preserve slavery). Just insane dishonesty on the rightwing.
