Regarding your ad hominem discussion on the closed thread, I note for the record that some of your favorite writers from the NYT employ the practice liberally (if you'll excuse the expression) when referencing President Bush and members of his administration every week. By golly, Maureen Dowd and Paul Krugman seem to have elevated liberal-written ad hominem (under your definition) to an art form.
