My recollection was that when Pres. Bush submitted to the controlling legal authority (UN) the appropriate paperwork (War Approval Request form (WAR-F)), the request was denied due to misspelling Iraqn.

And now we know why, as you say, "several countries"..and let's be specific here.....China, Russia and France......who all abstained (which does not count as a nay) from voting on U.N. Resolution 1441 did so, don't we?

We may have "interpreted" 1441 as you describe, but we knew darn well that we did not have the SC's "permission" for invasion in any way. We chose to do it regardless.

What's your point?
