PS There are more articles in the local paper about the
potential AMD fab locating just norht of here in NY. It seems
the local senator is really trumpeting it as an almost done
deal.

Would it, by any chance, be Joe Bruno's district?

BTW, if AMD does go forward and announce a 3rd Fab in NY State (or elsewhere), it would mean that they are buying ATI.
