Puggles would write reviews for his own books and he would have his friends write them also.

I agree with you except that, having read Weiss' rants, not much would surprise me. I guess I feel about him in a way similar to how you feel about Bob O'Brien. One's excitement can easily lead an OCD patient to the type of abuse he mentions. Seriously, it was a bit silly of Weiss to focus on some nut who posted a death threat.

I also agree about the Amazon and other self-serving type stuff. I didn't see the pugs stuff. That must have been interesting. But I do remember that someone drove nuts the guy who used to post regularly on the boards. He was the worst basher and pumper of stocks. (He was the same guy who was caught spoofing and fined - forget his name, temporary mental block. M - something, I forget.)

He loved seeing his name in print so he would put up reviews on Amazon, particularly on financial books. So someone started posting negative comments and ratings on his reviews. This grew and grew as others joined in a "what goes around, comes around type thing." The last I saw his reviews had the most negative comments and ratings I'd ever seen. In fact, you rarely see more than a few negative ratings on a review. Most people just skip the stuff and read what they need to read. Who has the time to do this kind of crap? It's like the people who blog to themselves and call others names on their own websites. The audience is miniscule.

Is this true??? It's a fairly common name. This is from another board.

A New York Times archive dated 11/18/84 states that Gary Weiss's father is a senior partner in the New York and San Diego law firm of Milberg Weiss Bershad Specthrie & Lerach.
