Do you think you could figger a way to burn this and send it to Wharfdude?

yes...

but not till late november when i finish the position reports
and my high school class reunion website and howard's website
to sell his "other" boat and the website for kath's second
business and the sailing season is over.

stand by patiently... i hear november comes early this year.

what is it?... 1:30 am? and i'm still plugging away. i think
i would get more done if i slept 8 hours a night instead of
trying to go non-stop. i haven't even read the NNBM thread
yet. i must be getting slow in my old age.

here's the delivery boyz' report for tonight:

**************************************************

Hey Dusty. Dennis called at4:50 p.m. MDT 6/8/06. Position was

27:11 N
91:08 W

Dennis said with a laugh that he was looking at the same oil platform they had had in view most of the day.

He said they played with the spinnaker all day, and still got best speed of about 4 knots. Calculates they making 70-80 miles a day, and have a little more than 300 miles to go. Headed for Aransas Pass. Thinks they'll be in Port Aransas probably Tuesday… maybe Monday. Sunday arrival would take a miracle, he says.

Said they ran the engine about 20 minutes today before it quit. He worked on it some; didn't say what he was doing. Tom said in the background, "It's a work in progress."

Said an oil platform tender boat approached them today (while Dennis was working on the engine) and took some pictures. Dennis came up and talked with the captain some; captain offered supplies, but Dennis said they told him they were OK. Said they could use propane, but the captain couldn't help with that.

Told him I had been planning to leave Friday for the coast to be there when they arrived, but since they are going so slow, I may wait until Saturday to leave. I'll bunk with Woody and Kea on the trawler Spectra until they move it to Rockport to put it up -- probably Monday or Tuesday. Woody said they could stretch their stay a bit if the boys were looking at a Monday or Tuesday arrival, so we'll see.

Dennis said Chris Parker on the SSB weather net broadcast this morning said something about a low maybe forming about Sunday over the Campeche Banks, but that wasn't a sure thing and Chris didn't seem to think much would come of it, even if it did form. Do you see anything like that in your weather musings?

That's about it. More on the next watch.

****************************************************

thanks hk, for the detailed report tonight.

yes, the trough down on the yucatan is forecast to move northward:

.SYNOPSIS...RIDGE WILL REMAIN STATIONARY OVER THE N GULF THROUGH
SUN. SURFACE TROUGH AND ASSOCIATED LOW PRES OVER THE E YUCATAN
PENINSULA IS EXPECTED TO MOVE NORTHWARD INTO THE S CENTRAL GULF
SUN THEN POSSIBLY INTO THE NW GULF MON AND TUE.

but it doesn't look like it will affect the BOYZ at all through
tuesday and we're all hoping that they're in aransas by tuesday
night at the latest...

.TONIGHT THROUGH SAT...S TO SW WINDS 10 KT OR LESS. SEAS 1 FT.
.SUN THROUGH TUE...E TO SE WINDS 10 KT. SEAS 1 TO 2 FT.
SCATTERED TSTMS SE PART.

they only made 57 nm today since they left the northerly
current. the encouraging thing about the forecast is that
the "variable" light winds they've had are now expected to
be "southerly" light winds for the next five daze so that
should help them narrow the gap between them and aransas at
a slightly better daily pace. my guts say they make 82 nm
tomorrow (but what do i know?) if they do that for 3.8 daze
they'll be in aransas monday afternoon.

so they turned down more supply offers today, eh? if they starve now,
it shall be known as the "big ego -- little weenies" diet.

if you talk to them tomorrow pass on the message from sparkie that he
has fixed tom's hot tub circulation problem... just in time for the 100
degree weather he'll have when he gets home. he found a fried mouse
welded to the pump wiring terminals. i thought that tub was smelling a
little funny.

if you DO leave friday you might get there in time to see the colombian
tall ship "ARC Gloria" departing at 4 pm after its three day visit to
Corpus Christi:

ccsail.com

but you won't be seeing the arrival of the Boyz until at least monday
or maybe tuesday or wednesday??.

the usual charts for tonight's position are attached.

beautiful moon out tonight. kath and i were serenaded by eliza gilkyson
at the biopark under it tonight. she was great, as always.

there will be a full moon sail at cochiti lake saturday night after the
potluck in toni cove. all are invited.

I've been hearing about this.

Still waiting for Inconvenient Truth to come to town.

Still waiting for Leon Russell to come to town, too. That'll be Sun. Free Concert in the Park. I'm gonna try and sneak away from work to join the party.

Good series this year. Pete Escobido and Elvin Bishop are coming, too.
