It's the American public, not just the Democrats, who are not satisfied with the goals being attained in Iraq.

Of course Iraq is still a mess, but we have gotten rid of Bush's one biggest excuse for prolonging the war and occupation indefinitely and getting more and more of our troops killed. He specifically told us that the #1 reason we can't leave was because otherwise Zarwasi would take over.
Zarqawi was his boogey man and Zarqawi is gone now.

We all cheer a lunatic like Zarqawi's death. But you righwingers have some lunatics on your side too. Let's not forget Anne Colter's blistering attacks on the 9-11 widows in defense of poor homeland security. Almost like Bush wants us to get hit again. Because he gets his power (what's left of it) from fear-mongering and boogey men (real or imagined). His six phony terrorist alerts last year prove this.

Zarqawi's death is not a stunt, it's a big relief, the first one in about a year of quagmire, but the deaths continue unabated, and it's partly because we are occupying the place, in fact maybe it's ALL because we're there. All because we removed the previous security and military leadership and didn't replace them with anything until two years later, by which time the place was in total chaos. It was a huge-huge blunder of Bush-Cheney-Rumsfield.

Meanwhile there is 21 billion missing, almost no progress on reconstruction and Halliburton and others are fleecing us right and left. Time to end this stupid, corrupt excuse for a war, and also remember, Zarqawi came in because we were there. He was not there already. Neither were any active terrorists.

Jeff, other than killing six foreign terrorists, how do you think killing Zarqarwi will lead to peace, or get us out of there? It's a good thing - but not significant.

There are 800-1000 foreign jihaddis operating in Iraq at any given time. There are 15,000 to 30,000 Iraqi factions killing each other and Americans at the same time. The Iraqis are glad Zarqawi's dead - but they'd be just as happy if someone had taken Rummy out. As far as they are concerned, both are just murderous foreign troublemakers.
