Strictly speaking, Chi is your life force and not its physical housing at your center...but it takes too long to explain the concepts, so I over simplified. In the west you have body and soul. In the east, your "soul" is divided at least into two parts: the portion that defines its character (this is closer to the western concept of soul) and a portion that is the life force or Chi. Depending on school of thought, there may be more parts to your psyche/soul/etc...I hope I am not confusing you on this now.
